Secretary of State Mike Pompeo held historic meetings this week with North Korean leaders in New York, and he did it while wearing green Army men socks.
On Thursday, Pompeo tweeted out an image showing U.S. leaders sitting at a table with the North Koreans.
He captioned the tweet, “Good progress today during our meetings with Kim Yong Chol and his team. #NorthKorea and the world would benefit greatly from the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.”

As noted by The Daily Caller’s Benny Johnson, a closer look at the photo reveals that Pompeo’s socks are patterned with green Army soldiers.
A cursory search on Amazon shows that Pompeo is more than likely wearing a pair of “Socksmith Men’s Army Men.”
These socks, which are less than $10, are black and feature green Army soldiers holding pistols, rifles, and bazookas.
Was Pompeo sending a message with his socks? It appears so.
The U.S and North Korea are currently negotiating and trying to agree on certain conditions before the June 12 summit in Singapore between President Donald Trump and dictator Kim Jong Un.
The U.S. has also had thousands of troops stationed in South Korean since the conclusion of the Korean War. The troops are positioned at the demilitarized zone, the area that divides the North from the South.
It’s unclear what message Pompeo was sending, but one could reasonably argue that he was reminding the North Koreans that America has the strongest and most powerful nuclear arsenal in the world, and that threatening the U.S. would have major consequences.
What do you think about Pompeo’s socks?
