The mainstream media completely missed a bombshell admission in the Department of Justice inspector general report about former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.
The IG report states that McCabe said he was pressured by a top DOJ official to drop the FBI’s investigation into the Clinton Foundation, which is run by Hillary and Bill Clinton.
McCabe describes the August 2016 phone call with then-principal associate deputy attorney general as being “very dramatic” and unlike any confrontation he had ever experienced before. According to the Washington Examiner, here’s the portion of the IG report:
“McCabe told the OIG that on August 12, 2016, he received a telephone call from PADAG regarding the FBI’s handling of the CF Investigation (the ‘PADAG call’). McCabe said that PADAG expressed concerns about FBI agents taking overt steps in the CF Investigation during the presidential campaign.”
“According to McCabe, he pushed back, asking, ‘Are you telling me that I need to shut down a validly predicated investigation?’ McCabe told us that the conversation was ‘very dramatic’ and he never had a similar confrontation like the PADAG call with a high level Department official in his entire FBI career.”
Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said the IG report presents new bombshell evidence that McCabe was pressured by a top Obama administration official to shut down the investigation into the Clinton Foundation.

The New York Times’ Maggie Haberman also called attention to the section of the IG report, writing that it was “of note to Trump folks.”

Attorney General Jeff Sessions fired McCabe late last month after the FBI’s Office of Professional Responsibility revealed he lied at least four times when asked about directing leaks to help the Clinton campaign.

McCabe gave the green-light for his colleague to release sensitive information to a Wall Street Journal report in October 2016. He leaked information that downplayed the severity of the investigations into Clinton’s email scandal and foundation.
The leak was intended to frame the bureau as merely looking into the allegations rather than actively investigating Clinton for carrying out a bevy of illegal actions.
Horowitz’s report explicitly states McCabe displayed egregious candor on more than occasion that warranted his termination from the bureau.
But more importantly, a top Obama administration official pressuring McCabe, who was the No. 2 at the FBI at the time, to shut down the investigation into “pay-for-play” allegations at the Clinton Foundation should be a concern to everyone.
