President Donald Trump is skipping this year’s White House Correspondents’ Association dinner — and where he’s going instead speaks volumes about his character.
According to Breitbart, Trump will host a campaign-style rally in Washington, Michigan, for his supporters rather than rub shoulders with the liberal media at the event.
Here’s what Trump’s re-election campaign COO Michael Glassner said in an email to supporters about the rally:
“While the fake news media will be celebrating themselves with the denizens of Washington society in the swamp that evening, President Trump will be in a completely different Washington, celebrating our national economic revival with patriotic Americans.”
This is the second year in a row that Trump has skipped the event in favor of holding a rally with the American people.

Rather than spend the night in the D.C. swamp, the president is going to speak with the American people about his agenda and how to continue improving the country.
There has been a lot of speculation about whether Trump would attend this year, but he made it pretty clear recently in an interview with New York radio hosts Bernie and Sid that he can’t stand being around the media:
“I sort of feel that the press is so bad, it’s so fake, it’s so made up. I call them novelists, they make up the sources, in some cases there are sources, but then they won’t do it correctly either but in many cases, they literally make up sources.”
The event is scheduled for April 28, and some members of Trump’s administration may attend.

But more importantly, this speaks volumes about the president’s intentions and desire to continue working for the American people — not acting cozy with establishment foes in the D.C. swamp.
Trump will be with blue-collar, regular Americans. Not elites in gowns and suits.
The president would much rather hold an event with his supporters and talk about the issues that really matter to Americans, like destroying ISIS, securing the border, and creating even more jobs.
This is why the American people support him.
